Over the past decade the Internet has transformed from an emerging
technology into an indispensable part of everyday
life. Whether it’s communicating with friends and relatives, paying
bills or keeping up to date on news or sports scores, the Internet
has become the way of doing things.
The proliferation of broadband and mobile connectivity is ushering in an
era of always-on consumers whose expectations have shifted from
on-demand to as-it-happens. The explosive growth of
applications and technologies such as instant messaging (IM) and
really simple syndication (RSS) are two dramatic examples of this
transformation.
With
this total immersion, one can only wonder why all electronic devices
aren’t wired and manageable yet. After all, isn’t the idea of
programming your PVR, turning on the lights, or setting the
sprinkler from your work computer or mobile handset, exactly what we
all want and expect to be able to do?
The
reality of broadband deployment techniques, specifically the
scarcity of real IP addresses, coupled with the real world need for
firewall technology, fundamentally inhibits easy access for
consumers into their wired homes. Overcoming these obstacles, along
with consumer demand for this next generation of consumer to device
(C2D) and device to device (D2D) networking will drive the
development of next generation enabling technologies and services.
Yoics' cutting edge, patent pending technology transforms the ease
of use and configurability of web networking in the same way
that web 2.0 technologies are transforming web publishing.
